and were visited by Marc Picker, Esq., Jeremy Bosler, Esq. and ACLU’s Holly Welborn

The Center for Civic Education advised NvCCE that:

“The students from Oasis Academy College Prep joined students from across the country in tackling difficult and meaningful public policy issues. It was inspiring to see and read the work of all the entries.”
– the National Showcase in Calabasas, California in July 2018.

The Project entitled Indigent Defense, achieved a ranking of Exceptional.

A Memorial Service was held for Dr. Margaret Stimmann Branson at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Reno, Nevada on June 29th 2019. Margaret would have turned 98 on August 7th 2019. Dr. Branson made remarkable contributions to civic education in the United States and throughout the world.

Dr. Branson was a principal researcher and author of We the People: The Citizen & the Constitution, the National Standards for Civics and Government, and many other works. She lived in Reno for several years.

As a part of the James Madison Legacy Project, Professor David Hudson spoke at the State Bar of Nevada at 3100 W Charleston Boulevard, Las Vegas, NV 89102 on June 14-15, 2018 helping Nevada teachers learn more about 1st Amendment and 4th Amendment topics like freedom of speech and freedom of religion in the context of applying them to student and teachers and how to use these lessons in their own classrooms.
