Community Organization Spotlight: TurnUp, the Youth Activism App
TurnUp, a nonpartisan non-profit organization, is the free hub and social network for activism. It is the fastest way to get involved with the issues and the causes you care about. Be a force for change by joining our community.
The organization is growing across the nation, but especially in Nevada. We are excited to share more about how students can get involved in their communities through the use of this app.
The TurnUp app is very accessible as a phone app; it's free; it encourages people to organize through a badge system complete with organizing history lessons; it shows you events in your area; you can connect with other people on the app; and you can invite other people to join the app in addition to creating events of your own. It's a terrific app and we definitely would love to work with you on showing events there or sharing the word about the app around!
You can further get involved by applying for the TurnUp Training Program internship. Youth Vote Directors are also looking for interns ourselves to help us get into these schools and do the important work of organizing students. Interns can expect to learn how to help host relationship building events, help establish connections with schools, teachers and students, train volunteers on skills such as Deep Canvassing, help host voter registration drives, and aid in a GOTV (Get Out the Vote) effort when election-time actually comes around. This internship will be done safely in regards to COVID, and the many valid concerns student interns may be concerned with. Students will also receive volunteer hours through this internship.
