Meet the People: Beverly Givens

NVCCE is excited to welcome Dr. Beverly Givens to our Board

Dr. Beverly Givens is a native Las Vegan and a strong advocate for education. She currently serves as the Transitional Living Director for Refuge for Women, a non-profit, faith-based organization providing specialized long-term housing and emergency housing for women who have escaped human trafficking or sexual exploitation. She is also a Part-Time Instructor for the College of Southern Nevada in Adult Education. Prior to these roles, she served for 23 years in the School-Community Partnership Program for the Clark County School District, 12 years as the Director. Dr. Givens received her Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University.

Q & A with Beverly Givens

What brought you to NVCCE?

I was connected to the organization through former Nevada State Senator Joyce Woodhouse, who is a big supporter of Civic Engagement in Nevada.

What do you love most about the work you do with our civic engagement programs?

I always welcome opportunities to give back to my community where I grew up and serve.
