Student outcomes include increased academic knowledge, critical thinking, community problem-solving, and 21st-century workforce skills.

  • If you are

    -A teacher in grades 4-12

    -Able to attend in person July 21-25

    -Able to participate in virtual professional learning throughout the school year (about 5 total meetings)

    -Committed to implementing We the People: the Citizen and the Constitution in your classroom during the 2025-2026 school year

    -Enthusiastic about using civic learning in your classroom

  • The We the People Summer Institute will include five days of learning from scholars, pedagogy experts, and peers

    Teachers who join us this summer will have the opportunity to learn more about the inquiry-driven, authentic assessment program We the People: the Citizen and the Constitution.

    We aim to bring inquiry-based learning to classrooms across Nevada and provide community engagement opportunities to a broader, more diverse group of students.

  • Teachers in Grades 4-8 who wish to participate in the We the People program will be provided a class set of textbooks and will also be a part of a research study that requires them to

    -Participate in 52 hours of professional development (36 in summer institute and 16 during school-year)

    -Implement 40 hours of classroom instruction using the curriculum

    -Involve students in the simulated congressional hearing instructional activity

    -Participate in a teacher pre- and post-test

    -Administer student pre- and post-tests
