Debate & Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences.
On April 2, students from across the state in Nevada participated in the National History Day in Nevada State Contest.
This year’s theme is Debate and Diplomacy in History: Successes, Failures, Consequences. Students were encouraged to find an area of history that was of interest to them, many chose topics that had personal meaning. Topics ranged from International Relations, Women’s Equality, First Amendment Rights, Native American Rights, Civil Rights, and more.
Students met with a panel of judges for a short q&a session about their projects. Every judge group remarked how impressed they were with the students, their passion, and ability to hold an academic conversation. That’s why History Day ROCKS…because students can use their own voice and choose topics that are of interest to them. By doing this the engagement level for students to complete the research process and develop those skills to prepare their project is much higher than many other project types.
Congratulations to all our History Day students for 2022! We are so impressed with your projects and loved seeing your growth throughout the year.
Below you will find the list of students who were awarded for their projects, the 1st and 2nd place in each category will be moving onto the National Contest.
