We the People Teams Moving to Nationals

The end of April will be filled with students from across the United States displaying their civic knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to effectively participate in our constitutional democratic republic through simulated congressional hearings.

This year Nevada is not just sending 1 team…but 3 teams to the National Finals for the HIgh School Level Program and 1 team to the National Invitational for the Middle Level Program.

Our High School Teams will be presenting their hearing statements and responding to q&a with a panel of judges Saturday April 23 and Sunday April 24. While the National Finals will be held virtually, teams from West CTA and Canyon Springs will be traveling to Washington DC during the weekend of the event to see our Nation’s Capital and explore the places vital to our nation’s founding. The team from Reno High School will be traveling to DC in May to explore as well.

A recent study released by PACE (Philanthropy for Active Civic Engagement) showed that students who have strong civic education participate in civic activities more than their counterparts who did not have civic education. We have seen over the last 20 plus years of Nevada’s investment in We the People programs across the state just how true the results of this survey are and are certain the class of 2022 will be no exception.
